My Analysis and Critique of Whiskey
My approach to whiskey evaluation is anchored in a positive anticipation for each tasting experience, withholding judgment until the spirit itself provides evidence to the contrary. The whiskey domain is expansive, fascinating, and replete with complex flavors that deserve a comprehensive and impartial assessment. While individual tastes naturally vary, no single preference is superior; each holds intrinsic value. Although I keep an appreciation for all whiskey varieties, I possess a particular fondness for bourbon and rye. My reviews will reflect honest, expertly informed opinions; however, perspectives may vary, and that diversity of opinion is both expected and welcomed.
Michter's Bomberger's Declaration Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon 2025 Release Review and Tasting Notes
This bourbon pays tribute to the storied Bomberger's Distillery and the enduring Michter's legacy, showcasing small-batch releases matured in Chinquapin oak and other types of barrels. The Legacy Series holds a unique position within Michter's offerings, granting the company the freedom to experiment with a variety of flavor profiles through different grain types, mash recipes, and aging techniques. Recently, a portion of the distillate has been aged in Chinkapin oak barrels, as opposed to the usual American white oak. Michter's places a strong emphasis on wood science, considering it essential to the distinct character of the Bomberger's Declaration line.
