My Analysis and Critique of Whiskey
My approach to whiskey evaluation is anchored in a positive anticipation for each tasting experience, withholding judgment until the spirit itself provides evidence to the contrary. The whiskey domain is expansive, fascinating, and replete with complex flavors that deserve a comprehensive and impartial assessment. While individual tastes naturally vary, no single preference is superior; each holds intrinsic value. Although I keep an appreciation for all whiskey varieties, I possess a particular fondness for bourbon and rye. My reviews will reflect honest, expertly informed opinions; however, perspectives may vary, and that diversity of opinion is both expected and welcomed.
An Evening and Tasting Event with Jeff Arnett of Company Distilling
The Bourbonado group had the distinct honor of engaging in an in-depth tasting in the fall of 2021 amid the scenic Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, and a discussion with Jeff Arnett, the esteemed Master Distiller and Co-Owner of Company Distilling. As the former Master Distiller at Jack Daniel's, Jeff Arnett now lends his unparalleled expertise to Company Distilling. During a guided tasting with Master Distiller Jeff Arnett, I evaluated two flagship Company Distilling expressions: Straight Tennessee Whiskey Finished with Apple Wood and Straight Rye Whiskey Finished with Cherry Wood.
